I wanted to zoom in and talk about one of my favorite projects on Season 16 of Let’s Make a Deal: my haunted house!

The project was to create a Haunted House as a clue that leads to a trip. Our Halloween theme this year was Dis De Los Muertos inspired, so of course we added lots of tiny, details that matched the theme.

I really tested my miniature building skills on this one. Stringing tiny marigold flower decorations, candles everywhere, and even a miniature offrenda for our late Lighting Director, Tom.

The candles were hand made using polymer clay, and wire + hot glue for the wicks.

The marigolds are tiny balls of tin foil, painted orange, and strung on sewing thread.

We hid our clue art card in a coffin in the attic!

I didn't know it was possible to make a career out of crafting, but after years in the art department it all makes sense. I think I've been training for this my whole life!

This is the only job I can imagine myself having. And I'm finding ways to work with props OUTSIDE of the TV industry -- its possible! And so rewarding.
